Three friends' (William Katt, Jan-Michael Vincent and Gary Busey) passion for surfing is wiped out when the draft board calls to recruit for the Vietnam War, demolishing their carefree existence. Funny and poignant, surfer and director John Milius's (Conan the Barbarian, Red Dawn) coming-of-age drama captures the tumultuous 1960s, from dodging the draft to going to battle, with the California surf as the backdrop.
