While her husband is off battling the Turks, 16th-century countess Erzsébet Bathory (Anna Friel) fights to protect her family and her land, woos the Italian artist Caravaggio (Hans Matheson) and endures vicious rumors that she bathes in the blood of virgins. Though legend depicts Bathory as the greatest female killer in history, director Juraj Jakubisko offers a new take on the aristocrat in this epic myth-busting portrait.
