Self-made millionaire Thomas Banacek (George Peppard) is a freelance insurance investigator whose specialty is recovering lost or stolen items in this 1970s series. Season 1 has the detective and his research assistant Felix (Murray Matheson) tracking down a missing football player, among other strange things. As Banacek works to solve his cases, he often faces tough competition from insurance company agents looking to beat him to the prize.
