The Pittsburgh Pirates are on a losing streak, and coach "Guffy" McGovern's (Paul Douglas) bad attitude just might have something to do with it. But thanks to the meddling of a reporter (Janet Leigh), the prayers of an orphan girl and some help from above, the Pirates may be on the road to a comeback. Keenan Wynn co-stars, with cameos by Ty Cobb, Joe DiMaggio and the Pirates' co-owner, Bing Crosby.
