In this granddaddy of reality shows, four contestants -- two male and two female -- take on the professional athlete cast of "American Gladiators" in a variety of contests designed to test their strength, speed and agility. A pseudo-Roman arena on the grounds of Universal Studios serves as the venue for the Gladiators -- Gemini, Zap, Nitro, Lace, Malibu and Sunny -- to engage opponents in events such as the Human Cannonball and the Joust.
