Elderly Texas farmer John Webb (Hume Cronyn) is still mourning the loss of his wife when an oil company offers to buy the rights to his land. Conflict soon ignites between a flock of greedy relatives who want John to embrace the future and friends who remind him to cherish the past. Penned by Academy Award-winner Horton Foote, the film boasts a strong supporting cast that includes James Earl Jones, Shelley Duvall, Ed Begley Jr. and Chris Cooper.
