When a devastating earthquake strikes New York City, killing millions, a disparate group of survivors (played by such fine performers as Cicely Tyson, Tom Skerritt, Sharon Lawrence and Charles Dutton) struggles to help others who are less fortunate. Top-notch special effects and first-rate performances make this a bone-rattling thrill ride and a surprisingly moving drama.
