After a plastic surgeon (Melvyn Douglas) removes her disfiguring facial scar, bitter blackmailer Anna Holm (Joan Crawford) has the chance for a fresh start. But she feels a strong pull to continue on her dark path and soon finds herself torn in opposite directions. Told in flashbacks during a murder trial, this dramatic thriller is directed by the legendary George Cukor and co-stars Conrad Veidt and Osa Massen.
