A Double Life

Director George Cukor confidently guides this brooding and cynical film noir that features what is arguably the peak performance of Ronald Colman (he won a Best Actor Oscar for the role). Coleman plays a veteran stage actor who, while playing Othello, falls victim to the actor's malady of mixing roles with reality -- a particularly dangerous affliction in this case, as he plays the jealous Moor opposite his own wife in the production.
