Based on the novel by Christopher Matthew, this TV miniseries follows the lives four young men in 1940 Cambridge dedicated to the war against Nazi Germany. Royal Air Force fighter Hugh Fleming (Nigel Havers), is shot down and suffers horrible, potentially devastating burns in the Battle of Britain. Trying to survive surgery, rehabilitation and life in -- and out of -- the hospital, he and his friends struggle to make sense of their lives.
