Joanna Eberhart (Katherine Ross), a New York photographer, and her husband Walter (Peter Masterson) leave the city for the peace and quiet of the suburbs. Upon moving to Stepford, Ct., Joanna and her new friend Bobbie (Paula Prentiss) notice something strange about the town's housewives: They seem to live only for their household chores and their husbands and lack a certain liveliness. Is there something behind the women's strange behavior?
