This classic 1947 adaptation of Charles Dickens's celebrated tale of hardship and wily determination stars Derek Bond as Nicholas Nickleby, a boy confronted with protecting himself and his family from the wicked designs of his wretched, greedy uncle (Cedric Hardwicke). Directed by Alberto Cavalcanti, the atmospheric film also stars Stanley Holloway, Sally Ann Howes, Mary Merrall, Alfred Drayton, Cyril Fletcher and Bernard Miles.
