In Victorian London's seamy underworld, natty gangster Mackie Messer (Rudolf Forster) -- better known as Mack the Knife -- impetuously weds pretty Polly Peachum (Carola Neher), invoking the wrath of her father, Jonathan (Fritz Rasp). But with help from the crooked police chief (Reinhold Schünzel), Jonathan plans Mackie's downfall in German director G.W. Pabst's classic musical satire featuring an evocative score by Kurt Weill.
