Lavish production values inform this made-for-TV rendition of Charles Dickens's classic novel about life on the mean streets of 19th century London. Young orphan Oliver (Alex Trench) joins a gang of pick-pocketing children, along with their leader, Fagin (Richard Dreyfuss), and the Artful Dodger (Elijah Wood). In time, Oliver attempts to free himself from his harsh life (and the menacing presence of criminal Bill Sykes) and find happiness.
