After his father -- a famous race-car driver -- dies during the Indianapolis 500, cocky Billy Coy (Mickey Rooney) is determined to become a champion racer himself. Taking a job with his father's mechanic, "Red" Stanley (Thomas Mitchell), Billy adopts a take-no-prisoners attitude. While clawing his way to the top, he doesn't care whom he hurts -- even his own mother (Spring Byington). This action-packed drama includes some classic car-racing footage.
