When author Phil Blackwood (Tom Selleck) learns that beautiful Eastern European immigrant Nina (Paulina Porizkova) has been accused of murder on shaky evidence, he decides to intervene. Hoping to mine her story for material for his next novel, Blackwood offers to provide Nina with an alibi, forcing her case to be dismissed. But when Romanian spies start showing up at his house, Blackwood begins to think Nina might not be so innocent after all.
