Itching to impress pretty Darlene (Christopher Norris), young Hoover Niebold (Ron Howard) boosts the fastest car in town, and the two hot-rod all over the place -- with Hoover's no-nonsense sheriff dad (Warren J. Kemmerling) in pursuit. Things go from bad to worse when the car's owner, professional racer Big Bubba Jones (Dave Madden), joins the chase. Watch for Corbin Bernsen in a small role as a witless gas-pump jockey.
