In a remake of the 1949 classic, director Ron Underwood's Oscar-nominated adventure follows Gregg O'Hara's (Bill Paxton) quest to capture a 2-ton African gorilla and transport him to a California reserve far from poachers. Jill Young (Charlize Theron), who was raised alongside the giant ape and is the only human who can communicate with him, helps transport Mighty Joe to Los Angeles, but there, survival becomes increasingly complex.
